Protoscar Lampo 2 EV: Fast, Ugly, And Awkwardly Named

For many years, electric cars didn’t look so much like cars, as they did… well… they didn’t much look like anything anyone would want to drive. I never understood half-covering the rear-wheels (that has never been cool) or the funky lines and shapes electric cars inevitably filled out. And so, in recent years, electric cars have begun to look more like… well… cars. Whether or not this is a good thing is up to you, but Protoscar apparently thinks electric cars should look funky. Hence the undramatic unveiling of the Protoscar Lampo 2. An awkward name for an awkward car that actually has some impressive features, like a ten-minute charge good for about 60 miles and a 0-62 mph …

Tactical Charge: duracoated Leather...The Leatherman Charge Ti (and tti) remain my favorite full-size multi-tools (see review www.youtube.com As it arrives from Leatherman, the Charge MT, in all its varieties, is adequately good looking but not special or impressive. Moreover, if a tactical multi-tool with low reflectivity or sheen is needed in your operations (and the black versions dont excite you) then maybe a duracoated Leatherman should be your next project. Here I show and discuss the Leatherman "Charge Ti" that I transformed into a "Tactical Charge," wearing a carefully applied coat of Lauer Weaponry's "Tactical Desert Earth" (an ultra-flat variety) duracoat. For such a small MT it is a big project and one that most will not want to tackle; the work required is disproportionate to its size. There are many parts with many surfaces (don't lose them!), each needing preparation for coating (to ensure adherence; I used combination fine steel wool and 400 grit automotive sandpaper). Also takedown and reassembly are not exactly fast and simple. But with patience the end result is impressive and you'll have a one of a kind multi-tool. Electric Cars Turn On Detroit Auto...This year's theme at the 2010 NAIAS in Detroit was electric. As hybrids, electric cars and hybrid plug-ins continue to gain popularity and momentum, the show announced the debut of Electric Avenue. The 37000-square-foot feature, on the main floor of the show, highlights nearly 20 high-tech cars from several automakers. Hyundai announced the gas-electric hybrid Blue-Will, while Toyota introduced the FT-CH hybrid. And Cadillac unveiled its XTS Platinum concept, which comes with a plug-in hybrid system that boosts the car's electric-only driving capability. Some all-electric vehicles included the BMW activee Concept, the MINI E, and Audi's e-tron.
