GM Announces Chevy Volt Will Launch In California

December 2nd, 2009 admin

It has been twenty years now since GM unveiled its Impact electric concept, which ultimately led to the EV1 electric car. Not everybody heard about the EV1 though, because it was confined mostly to California on limited leasing agreements. We all know how the EV1 turned out. But with bankruptcy behind them, it is a new day for GM, and a new day for electric cars . The much ballyhooed Volt is making marked improvements as it moves from mule to

Having previously done a water trough test , GM decided that maybe the Volt should be subjected...
About Face: Chevy Volt Can Run On Regular Gas
About Face: Chevy Volt Can Run On Regular Gas
A few days ago a story made the rounds on the Internet (as they usually do) that raised a few eyebrows regarding the Chevy Volt. GM’s much-ballyhooed plug-in hybrid, which can go 40 miles on electricity only, would apparently require premium gasoline to power its battery generator. Premium fuel carries a premium price, usually 20-30 cents...

It is after all general knowledge that water...

Chevy Volt Battery To Have 8-Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty
Replacing car batteries are a fact of life. It can be a real pain, depending on the type of car you’ve got, but these days batteries seem to last a good long time. So how long is long enough when your car runs exclusively on batteries? Apparently GM thinks 8 years or 100,000 miles should be enough to assay the fears of early adopters for...
Chevy Volt Takes a Dive – for Safety!
Chevy Volt Takes a Dive – for Safety!
What would happen if your Chevy Volt’s battery pack got wet during a carwash?  What if you tried to drive it through a foot of standing water after a rainstorm?  What would happen if you lost control of your Chevy Volt and drove it into a canal? Water and electricity do not go hand-in-hand, exactly, and despite the excitement and energy...

Chevy Volt Investment in Detroit Now $700 Million
GM has announced that it is investing another $336 million to fix up its Hamtramck assembly plant in Detroit, now bringing its total Detroit plant investment in building the Volt extended-range electric car to $700 million. First they’ll clear out the cobwebby remains of the Cadillacs and the Buick Lucernes they used to build there, and...

Watch The ‘Chevy Volt Dance.’ If You Dare.
It wasn’t bad enough that someone in the General Motors marketing department, or its advertising agency, came up with a catchy song for the Chevrolet Volt . No, they had to come with a dance for the Chevrolet Volt. Think of the worst reject from that ridiculous So You Think You Can Dance? show and then multiply it by a factor of, oh, about...
Second Generation Chevy Volt Could Use Diesel Or Rotary Engine
Second Generation Chevy Volt Could Use Diesel Or Rotary Engine
The Chevy Volt is still months away from hitting showrooms, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating on the next generation of Chevy’s plug-in hybrid. Will it make the jump to a fully electric vehicle? Will they make a sportier SS version? Will anybody actually buy the Volt? These are just some of the questions people are asking....
Chevy Volt Needs Premium Fuel, But Why?
Chevy Volt Needs Premium Fuel, But Why?
I haven’t quite made my mind up on the Volt. I like a lot of things about the Chevy super-eco-car, like its many standard features, emphasis on technology, and the fact that it can be an every day car. I don’t like the $41,000 starting price (which comes down to $33,500 after Federal tax credits… still pretty expensive). Know...
