Chevy Volt Takes a Dive – for Safety!

August 31st, 2009 admin

What would happen if your Chevy Volt’s battery pack got wet during a carwash?  What if you tried to drive it through a foot of standing water after a rainstorm?  What would happen if you lost control of your Chevy Volt and drove it into a canal? Water and electricity do not go hand-in-hand, exactly, and despite the excitement and energy surrounding Chevy’s upcoming Volt EV, a number of people are still asking questions about the basic safety of the Volt’s powerful batteries.

The Chevy Volt is still months away from hitting showrooms, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating on the next generation of Chevy’s plug-in hybrid. Will it make the jump to a fully electric vehicle? Will they make a sportier SS version? Will anybody actually buy the Volt? These are just some of the questions people are asking....

Chevy Volt Battery To Have 8-Year, 100,000 Mile Warranty
Replacing car batteries are a fact of life. It can be a real pain, depending on the type of car you’ve got, but these days batteries seem to last a good long time. So how long is long enough when your car runs exclusively on batteries? Apparently GM thinks 8 years or 100,000 miles should be enough to assay the fears of early adopters for...

GM-Volt.com Offering 10 Winners A Chance To Test Drive The Volt
This November the first production Chevy Volts will begin rolling off production lines. As I’ve already noted, a lot is riding on the Volt’s success or failure. GM Prices Volt At $41,000 Before Incentives, Pre-Ordering Begins Today
There has been so much speculation surrounding the Chevy Volt’s eventual price, that I’m just going to cut to the chase. GM has placed an official price on the Chevy Volt, its plug-in hybrid with a 40 mile all-electric range: $41,000. That is before any tax incentives, like the $7,500 Federal tax credit, (which would take the price...

General Motors is on an all-out push to ensure that its new Chevy Volt becomes the electric car of the mainstream U.S. market.  On July 1 the company launched a cross country tour introducing American communities to the car from Austin, Texas to New York, New York.  It’s pretty clear that the symbolism-freighted trip is designed to spur...

Chevrolet Volt Price Tag Still Looks Like $40K
One of the big questions about the Chevrolet Volt is what it will cost. CEO Ed Whitacre generated a bit of excitement yesterday when he suggested the car would be priced in the low 30s. Turns out that’s after the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs. And that puts the price tag back in the $40,000 ballpark, which is where most people have long...
